Weill Cornell Medicine Physicians and Scientists Lead COVID-19 Patient Registry Helping Track the Disease’s Evolution
A team of Weill Cornell Medicine physicians and scientists, along with student statisticians collaborating remotely from Cornell’s Ithaca campus and elsewhere, have built a secure database with medical data on more than 4,000 patients who had clinical symptoms of COVID-19 and were seen at one of three NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital campuses. Weill Cornell Medicine, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Illumina Collaborate on Scalable Clinical Whole-Genome Sequencing Initiative
Weill Cornell Medicine, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and Illumina, Inc. are entering into a collaboration to sequence the complete human genomes of thousands of consenting patients, in order to identify genetic alterations driving disease and potentially reveal previously unidentified therapies for treatment. “We are committed to expanding whole-genome sequencing to cancer and other common diseases more broadly,” said Dr. Olivier Elemento, Director of the Englander Institute for Precision Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine.
