NewYork-Presbyterian Opens COVID-19 Vaccine Site at Armory in Washington Heights

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, NYP opened a large vaccination center at the Fort Washington Armory in Washington Heights on January 14. At this time, New York City residents over the age of 65 with scheduled appointments may obtain the vaccine at this site. Read more.

NYP Leads New York State in Vaccinations

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo revealed that NewYork-Presbyterian is ranked the state’s highest performing hospital system as it relates to distributing the COVID-19 vaccine, administering 99% of its vaccine allocation. Read more.

Columbia Launches First Pandemic Simulation for Healthcare Executives

Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health launched a simulated pandemic, which includes a strategic decision-making and team-building exercise for hospital executives. First of its kind, the simulation is scheduled to launch early this year. Read more.

On Monday, January 18, NYP reflected on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy as a leader of the Civil Rights Movement and as an advocate for nonviolent methods of effecting social change. Read more.

New Visitation Guidelines Effective January 8

In light of ongoing developments with the COVID-19 crisis, NYP has modified the Adult Inpatient and Behavioral Health Visitation policy and guidelines. Read more.

January is National Blood Donor Month: Sign Up to Donate at a Community or NYBC Drive

Due to space constraints and social distancing requirements, instead of NYP's usual on-site blood drives, we are promoting community blood drives and those taking place at NYBC Donor Centers. Read more.

Registered Dietitian of the Year Nominations Open Now Through January 29

NYP honors outstanding Registered Dietitians with the annual Registered Dietitian of the Year Award. The deadline to submit nominations is January 29, 2021. Read more.

Organizational and Leadership Changes
Dr. Lawrence D. Koutcher Appointed Regional Director of Clinical Operations in the Department of Radiation Oncology at NYP Hudson Valley and NYP Lawrence Hospitals

In this role, Dr. Koutcher will provide ongoing oversight and management of the faculty and staff in these regional hospitals to ensure clinical workflow and protocols are of the highest standard and consistent with the expectations of the Radiation Oncology physicians and NYP leadership. He will also work with the Department Chair as well as regional site leadership on service line growth.

Support Care Time (SCT) Guidelines for 2021

In 2020, we established Support Care Time (SCT) to provide paid time off for staff who have COVID-like illness, or who need to care for a minor child with COVID-like illness. NYP has renewed SCT effective January 1, 2021 to ensure you care for yourself and family members during the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more.

Change in COVID-19 Testing Guidance for Travel for Health Care Personnel (HCP)

As of Tuesday, January 12, 2021 HCP (including those who received the COVID-19 vaccine) who are returning from travel should be tested for SARS-CoV-2 by PCR within 24 hours of their return AND again on the fourth day after they return. Read more.
